LOCATION

The location of the existing Sathyan memorial Spors and Arts Club Building is at 8' 38' North latitude and 76' 38' East longitude which is almost same as that of Kollam town. Kollam is the most important industrial and commercial centre and the club is at the suburbs of the Kollam Corporation area. The nearest Broad guage (Ernakulam-Thiruvananthapuram) railway station is at Kollam, 10 Kms west and the nearest Metre guage (Now under upgradation to Broad guage) railway station is at Chandanathope just 500 meters west (Kollam-Schencottah).The existing club building is adjucent to Kollam-Kottavasal National Highway-NH208 at 10Kms east of Kollam town.

HISTORY

Sathyan Memorial Sports and Arts Club was founded commemorate the memory of Sri.Sathyan noted thespian and an actor of par excellence. It became a registered sports, arts, ciltural and social organisation under Chartitable Socities Registration Act of 1955 in 1971 (Register No.Q59/1971). The beginning was modest but scaled the steps of growth by the passage of years, It achieved excellence in the field of sports,arts and games and exerted considerable influence in social and cultural fields.At first the club was housed in a thatched building the land earmarked forthe purpose. Subsequently a three stored building was constructed there. The club has made giant strides in its development and contributed a great deal in the growth of arts and sports and produced athlets and artist of repute and calibre.
T.K.Sankarapillai Memorial Library was registered under Kerala Grandasala Sangham in 1966 and commenced its function. Library was named to commemorate the memory of Sri.T.K.Sankara Pillai one of the founder member of the club. Now the Library has a collection of more than 12500 books and it is a major 'A' grade library under Kerala State Library Council. The noted asset of the Library is its references section which containa valuable reference books.. The reference section is used by graduate sudents in their studies.
